Dear Valued Stakeholders,
Please accept this letter as formal notification that our residential facility located at 497 Waukonda in Benton Harbor will be closing residential operations effective 3/6/26.
This decision was not made lightly. Over the past several years, we have made significant efforts to tailor programming to align with the needs and expectations of the Michigan Department of Corrections. Despite these efforts, referral volume has not supported the continued operation of this program at the Benton Harbor location. After careful review of program utilization, financial sustainability, and long-term service delivery considerations, we have determined that closure is necessary at this time.
We are committed to ensuring continuity of care for all individuals we serve. Current residents will be transitioned to one of our three remaining residential locations, where services will continue without interruption. All new referrals will be accommodated at our residential facilities in Kalamazoo, Muskegon, or Calhoun County. We will work closely with MDOC field office staff to ensure placements occur smoothly and with minimal disruption to participants.
We would also like to acknowledge and express our sincere appreciation for the longstanding relationship we have maintained with local probation and parole agents and the court system in the Benton Harbor area. The collaboration and partnership over the years have been instrumental in supporting justice-involved individuals in their rehabilitation and reintegration efforts. We are grateful for the professionalism and shared commitment demonstrated throughout our work together.
