Where Every Coffee Has a Purpose
Our story starts with the people behind the espresso machine – those who are crafting your perfect cup of coffee and serving you a warm, fresh muffin. When you walk into Walnut & Park, you’re not just getting a great coffee experience, you’re supporting a community of individuals working toward a brighter future.
Many of our team members are residents of KPEP, a local community corrections provider that helps men and women rebuild their lives after incarceration. The baristas, bakers, and chefs you see preparing your food and drinks are students or graduates of KPEP’s culinary arts program. This unique vocational training equips individuals with valuable job skills that open doors to new opportunities.
Through this 10-week program, participants gain the certification they need to succeed in the culinary world and the confidence and experience to create a stable, independent future. And it doesn’t stop here – our graduates take these skills to restaurants, hotels, and food service companies throughout Kalamazoo and beyond, making a real impact in our community.
